WATERCOLOR and MIXED MEDIA PAINTING; MIXED MEDIA SCULPTURE

Exploring the interplay of light and color

Thank you for visiting my website.

May my art kindle excitement, passion and joy in you.

My work is bold.  I approach each new composition without rules, embracing the freedom to mix media with abandon and compose with bright color and strong values.  Patterns of light spark my creativity.

Making and exhibiting art is a force for positive change.  Art touches hearts and minds, spurs reform, galvanizes change.

I am thrilled to announce my collaboration with the Lipizzan Rescue Foundation.  Our collaboration will raise funds to rescue endangered Lipizzans.  We are offering posters, candles, mugs, and notecards featuring my original watercolor paintings.  100% of proceeds go directly to rescuing Lipizzans in need.   LIPIZZAN RESCUE COLLABORATION

Media Quote...

...Cheri Isgreen. Have you been following her work? A lot of us have and we’re in a constant state of wonder. Her work is phenomenal, ever-evolving. There are no limits to Cheri’s creativity.

Take horses—it’s a common theme for Cheri. Which is not surprising, since she’s loved these animals since she was a child. Her fascination with how horses move, the way their bodies work and communicate through motion, has never been more apparent than in her current work: mixed media paintings and sculptures that incorporate a variety of mediums and found objects.  Incredibly talented and continually evolving, this mixed-media artist is the embodiment of a creative spirit…an inspiration to any and all who experience her work.  ~K. ...Yes! Yes! Yes! You captured it perfectly!  Though your narrative painting, Captiva Cay, tells much of the story, there is still a lot for the viewer to decide about the story.  Who are those children, what are they thinking, what does the separation of groupings mean, will it rain, what was the artist’s intent in painting with arbitrary color, and the list goes on the longer the viewer spends with the painting.  I like a subtle approach better as it goes with watercolor. I like having to examine it a bit to determine what it’s saying. Just like the painting.

Here are my answers as I examine my painting:
Children are my grandchildren;
Each group represents a different branch of my family;
The stormy sky is blowing over and the sun has emerged- optimism, joy;
The arbitrary color is atmospheric.  The sun and spray break the light into a prism of color, reflected in the breakers and the wet sand.  Symbolically the color playfully suggests good times, leisure, exploration, amusement--the whole beach vibe.  ~P Zumpano
